What is vivace?
An ecumenical arts event fostering communication and networking in the Mobile Bay Area.
Ok...what does that mean?
A ton of artists, performers, writers, and musicians get together for one big celebration. Large crowds come, enjoy the performers, and learn about the organizations participating in the event. A substantial networking opportunity results for the groups participating. New communication can be built amongst community leaders. New support can be gained from participating denominations and organizations.
Is the event run by Cottage Hill Baptist Church?
No. Cottage Hill has generously provided the venue for this ecumenical event. The event is put on by the United for Life Foundation, a non-profit foundation that networks, promotes, and funds organizations and people doing culture building work. For more on the United for Life Foundation click here.
How in the world would you organize that?
Set up an open house at a large and beautiful venue (Cottage Hill is amazing!), give artists and performers space to present their talent. Have talents all going at the same time, so people can browse and see different features. Focus on student talent. Then have a show with larger acts...and a keynote speech with Mike Huckabee. The result is a very fun event, a way to build ecumenical friendships and learn about artists and outreach in the Mobile Bay Area.
How do you say vivace and what does it mean?
veev - vatch - ay
lively, or there is life.
When and where is vivace?
January 26th, 2010
6:00pm - 9:00pm
Cottage Hill Baptist Church (venue is generously provided by Cottage Hill, not a Cottage Hill Event)
How does this event work?
It fosters ecumenical communication and networking through beauty and art. People might disagree on theology, but they can generally commune on creative talent. vivace draws people together through the artistic, and allows them to bond with the common understanding of God-inspired art. Organizations participating will gain a greater understanding of each other, as well as the ability to work together in the future more efficiently.
Where does the money go?
The event has costs, and most of the funds will go to the cost of the event. If there is money raised, it will go to the organizations involved, and further events like this.
You’ve got a lot of people involved, how do you fit them all in?
Many of our acts will be going on simultaneously in different places. Please look at our lineup for more information.
Why Mike Huckabee? Is the event political?
No. Mike Huckabee was chosen as a media star who offers a gentle and culture-building message. His rockstar power generates interest in the event, and he serves as a great role model.
What should I expect?
Expect a lot of fun and a lot of talented people. You’ll see art, hear music, and experience some great performances. And of course you’ll see Mike Huckabee.
Is this a ticketed event?
It is ticketed, to cover the cost of the event. The general admission is $15. We’ve also got a YouROCK room, pretty cool, check them out by clicking here. If there are funds raised beyond the cost of the event, they will go to support the organizations participating and promoted in this event, and to further events like vivace.
